China V band clamp manufacturer

A V-band clamp is a precision-engineered metal connector designed to join two pipes or components securely using a V-shaped band and matching flanges. When tightened, the V-groove applies even pressure around the joint, forming a 360° gas-tight seal without the need for gaskets or multiple bolts. This compact, durable design makes stainless steel V-band clamps ideal for high-temperature, high-vibration environments such as automotive exhausts, turbo systems, and industrial piping.

We offer a comprehensive selection of sizes and tailor-made options to fit various hose and pipe configurations. Every clamp is produced using precision manufacturing techniques, delivering superior durability and consistent performance even in harsh operating environments.

Derivative products

HWKG offers a wide variety of clamp types, ensuring there is always one perfectly suited to your specific requirements and application needs.

Single-end open V band clamp

Featuring a U-shaped open shaft at the head of the screw, eliminating the need to fully unscrew the screw during assembly, thus facilitating installation and disassembly.

Two-part V band clamp

Heat-resistant, easy to install, and are often used for small flange diameter installations.

Double-ended V-band clamp

The double-bolt design provides stronger clamping force. This clamp is primarily used for installing large-diameter flanges.

Compensating single-end V band clamp

Utilizing a spring structure to counteract the thermal expansion and contraction of pipelines caused by temperature changes, providing continuous torque compensation, effectively preventing bolt loosening due to vibration, and ensuring long-term reliable sealing.

One-piece V band clamp

Integral V-groove, one-piece molding, for more reliable sealing performance.

What are the advantages of using a V band clamp?

Quick Installation and Removal

V-band clamps feature a single fastener design that allows quick assembly and disassembly without the need for multiple bolts. This saves time during maintenance, especially in systems that require frequent inspection.

No Gaskets Required Clamp

Unlike traditional flange systems, V-band clamps achieve a complete seal through their V-shaped groove, eliminating the need for gaskets. This reduces potential leakage points and simplifies installation.

High Vibration and Heat Resistance

Constructed from stainless steel or similar alloys, V-band clamps maintain clamping strength under constant vibration, pressure cycling, and thermal expansion—ideal for harsh environments.

Leak-Free High-Pressure Seal

The V-shaped design distributes clamping force evenly around the connection, maintaining a tight seal even under high pressure and temperature. This ensures reliable performance in turbo and exhaust systems.

Lightweight and Compact Design

V-band clamps replace bulky bolted flanges with a compact, lightweight structure. This design reduces overall system weight and is ideal for performance engines.

What are V clamps used for?

HWKG’s V-band clamp can be applied to various scenarios to meet your diverse needs.

Automotive Exhaust and Turbo Systems

V band exhaust clamp and exhaust clamp v band connect turbochargers and exhaust pipes. Their 360° seal resists leaks and vibration, making them ideal for high-temperature, high-pressure automotive applications.

Agricultural Irrigation Equipment

Used in irrigation pipelines and pump systems, V-band clamps provide quick, corrosion-resistant connections. They allow easy maintenance and stable sealing in outdoor environments.

Marine and Offshore Applications

Marine-grade stainless steel V-band clamps secure exhaust and intake systems on vessels. They ensure leak-free joints under saltwater, heat, and vibration.

Industrial Piping and High-Temp Ducting

In factories and power systems, V-band clamps join flanged ducts and process pipes. Their strong, uniform clamping force handles pressure and thermal expansion reliably.

Common materials for V band clamp

V-band clamps can be made from different materials depending on the application, but HWKG primarily manufactures them in stainless steel due to its excellent combination of strength

Stainless steel V band clamp

Stainless V-band clamps are made using premium alloys such as the 300 series, offering excellent corrosion resistance and reliable. They are the standard choice for many automotive and industrial exhaust applications, since they can withstand high temperatures, thermal cycling, and vibration. These clamps also deliver a stable sealing performance over repeated cycles of assembly and disassembly.

Titanium V band clamp

Titanium V-band clamps use high-grade titanium materials (such as CP2) for lightweight yet robust performance. Because titanium has a high strength-to-weight ratio and outstanding corrosion resistance these clamps are favored in racing and performance exhaust systems where weight savings and durability are premium considerations.

Aluminum V band clamp

Aluminum V-band clamps incorporate aluminum alloy components—often paired with stainless clamp bands—for applications where weight reduction or cost savings are important. While aluminum may not match the high-temperature endurance of stainless or titanium, it provides a lightweight alternative for less severe conditions, such as after-market modifications, general pipework, or equipment where frequent service and quick access are required.

Installation Tips for V-band Clamps

01 - Check Pipe Alignment

Make sure both pipe or flange ends are clean, round, and free from burrs or distortion. Misaligned pipes can cause uneven clamping and leaks.

02 - Apply Anti-Seize Compound

Lightly lubricate the mating flanges and the clamp threads with an anti-seize compound to prevent galling and make tightening smoother.

03 - Tighten Evenly and Gradually

Tighten the nut gradually in small increments, ensuring even pressure around the entire band. Avoid overtightening, which can deform the clamp or flanges.

04 - Avoid Using Impact Tools

Never use an impact wrench to install a V-band clamp. Excessive force can stretch or warp the clamp, leading to poor sealing performance.

05 - Check for Heat Exposure

For systems near turbochargers or manifolds, consider using heat-resistant coatings or insulation to prevent material fatigue under extreme temperatures.

06 - Final Inspection

Once installed, ensure the flanges are evenly seated and that there’s no visible gap between them. A properly installed V-band clamp should not leak or shift under pressure.

V Band Clamp FAQ Guide

How do I know what size V-band clamp I need?

To determine the correct size for a V-band clamp, start by measuring the outside diameter (OD) of the flange where the clamp will sit.
Ensure you select a clamp whose nominal diameter is slightly larger than that flange OD to allow for the designed “air gap” between the clamp and the flange.

A V-band clamp uses a V-shaped groove to lock two flanges together, forming a tight seal.
A band clamp, by contrast, wraps a wide metal strap around the joint and tightens it. It’s easier to install, more flexible in size, and cost-effective for standard exhaust or piping applications.

It’s generally not recommended to reuse V-band clamps. During installation, the clamp adapts to the exact shape of the flanges through heat and pressure, ensuring a perfect seal. Once removed, this fit is lost, and reusing the same clamp can lead to leaks or loosening under high load.

No, not all V-band clamps are the same. They differ in material, flange type, size, and locking mechanism. Some are made from standard stainless steel, while others use higher grades like 304 or 316 for better corrosion resistance. In addition, certain V-band clamps include quick-release or spring-loaded designs for easier assembly and maintenance.

For a proper installation of a V-band clamp, tighten the clamp gradually until the band is fully seated and the joint is snug — but avoid excessive torque which can damage the flanges or clamp. As a guideline, many manufacturers recommend around 60 in-lbs for smaller bolts (¼”) and up to 150 in-lbs for larger bolts (5⁄16″) on V-band clamps.
